How to contribute

DART-Europe welcomes contributions from institutional, consortial and national repositories. If you would like the DART-Europe E-theses Portal to collect metadata from your repository, contact info@dart-europe.eu

Contributors are also encouraged to sign the DART-Europe Partnership Agreement, although this is not a condition of participation in the Portal.

What we collect

DART-Europe aims to collect details of the open access research theses stored in Europe's digital repositories.

DART-Europe collects details of

  • Doctoral theses
  • Masters theses from programmes of study which have no taught component

Theses must also be

  • Open access: free for all users to download, read and use

Contributors are invited to use their discretion to determine which of their theses are suitable for inclusion in the DART-Europe database.

Metadata harvesting

DART-Europe collects metadata using OAI-PMH. We harvest metadata in simple OAI Dublin Core format, and we are happy to harvest e-thesis details from any OAI-compliant repository.

To harvest from your repository, we will require the following details:

  • The OAI Base URL of your repository
  • Details, if needed, of the OAI Sets that identify your open access research theses

Individual contributors

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept thesis details directly from individual authors. Graduates wishing to have their work indexed by the DART-Europe E-theses Portal are advised to contact their university library and enquire about the availability of a repository capable of feeding the DART-Europe Portal.
